The Summer Start Program is currently on hiatus and will not be offered during Summer 2019.
Although the Summer Start program will not be offered during the 2019 summer session, incoming first-year students who wish to get a head start on their college classes are welcome do so by enrolling in appropriate classes during the summer session.
If you are an incoming first-year student and intend to take classes at KSU during the 2019 summer session, please work with the Admissions Office to ensure you are being admitted for the appropriate semester and meet with your Academic Advisor to determine which classes you need. If you have not yet been assigned an academic advisor, please contact University College Advising Services.
KSU’s Summer Start Program is designed to provide students the opportunity get a head start on college. Students in the program take two credit-bearing college classes – a first-year seminar course and a General Education course – during KSU’s six-week summer session and ease into campus life ahead of the hectic fall semester.
Through this intensive six-week program, students will be introduced to the rigors of college coursework while acquiring the strategies and confidence to succeed academically. Additionally, students will learn about campus resources, build a strong academic foundation, and increase the likelihood that they will achieve sophomore status by the end of their first year of college. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are also offered to foster campus and peer connections.
The Summer Start Program is open to incoming first-year students who have just graduated from high school and who meet KSU’s admissions requirements. Program participation is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
