Pre-Ignition Checklist

Please complete the following items PRIOR to your Ignition: New Student Orientation session.

☑ Complete your personalized online experience. You will need to complete this experience prior to attending your Ignition session. 

☑ Confirm where to check-in and park on your Ignition day. You can find this information by visiting the Check-in and Parking Information page.

Sign-up for Owl Expedition - Owl Expedition is a 4 day, 3 night extended orientation camp held at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, GA. Students will stay in cabin-style lodging, (no they will not be in tents!), and all the food and activities will be hosted at the retreat center. Registration will close on July 22nd, 2019! 

☑ Schedule a pre-advising appointments (optional) - Familiarize yourself with the advising and registration process by understanding KSU's academic goals and requirements for you. Do this by visiting University College Advising Services (UCAS)

☑ Check your netID and password. This will give you access to Owl Express course registration during your Ignition: New Student Orientation session.

☑ Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - You must complete the FAFSA for student loans, grants, federal work study and need-based scholarships. Learn about financial resources and processes here. If you’ve already completed the FAFSA, visit Owl Express to make sure you submitted all the documentation required by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

☑ Complete your Math or Foreign Language Placement Tests - Many majors encourage students take the Math Placement Test (ALEKS) prior to registering for classes. Visit the link below for details. Also, if you plan to enroll in a foreign language course during your first semester, the Foreign Language Placement Exam is highly recommended.

Confirm your Parents, Family & Guests sign-up - If you have a parent, family member or guest who is signed up to attend orientation, please check the Orientation Sign-Up page in your student Owl Express account to confirm the date that they have signed up for. This date is located below the student sign-up date listed on the confirmation page.

Please note: ALL GUESTS must be signed up to attend the activities during Ignition

☑ Accessibility - If you require accommodations to participate in Ignition, such as an ASL Interpreter, assistive listening device, etc, please contact Student Disability Services at or 470-578-2666. Please provide 5 business days’ notice of your request to ensure that accommodations can be arranged for your scheduled session.

Overnight Ignition Packing List - If you are signed up to attend a two-day Overnight Ignition session, you will need to bring the following items:

  • Set of twin-sized extra long sheets (or a sleeping bag)
  • Pillow & blanket
  • Bath towels & toiletries
  • Anything else you may need for an overnight stay - including but not limited to a phone charger or any medications

A shower curtain, toilet paper and trash can is provided.
