University College Statement Regarding Data Release

On October 18th, University information security officials were notified of an inadvertent release of personal information for some University College students. Personal information for 593 students had been included in an email attachment that was mistakenly sent to 167 students.

The Office of Legal Affairs, working with the Office of the CIO, has begun the process of notifying the students whose information was released as well as the students who received the information in order to highlight that the information was sent in error and to ask for the materials to be deleted.

An FAQ has been developed to provide concerned students with additional background on the incident as well as steps that are being take to increase protections for the data in the future and to provide additional security and certainty to our impacted students. We sincerely regret this mistake and hope you will not hesitate to reach out to Dean Disbrow or others in the University College if you have questions or need further information.
